A Little Bit About Me

Hello! I am Kaydince Fulk. I am a student at Indiana University Indianapolis, and I am currently a Pre-Nursing major in hopes to get into the nursing program for next fall. I am from Columbia City, Indiana. I graduated from Columbia City High School with a Core 40 with Academic Honors diploma. I have spent the last three years involved in internships. I did internships in physical therapy, a dermatology office, and along the side RN, PA, NP, PCT, and MD. I currently work as a Student Nurse Assistant, at Parkview Whitley on the Med-Surg unit. I have gained so much hands on experience as well as knowledge through this position. Outside of my studies, I work as a server during my free time. This position has given me valuable customer service and teamwork skills.  Many describe me as honest, determined, and organized. These qualities drive me in both my academic and personal pursuits. When I’m not in class or at work, I find joy in a few passions. I’m an avid fan of football, and you’ll often find me cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Traveling is another great love of mine; exploring new places and experiencing different cultures is a true adventure. What truly fills my heart is spending time with friends and loved ones. I believe in the importance of nurturing relationships and making meaningful memories.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!

Major & Career Goals

As a pre-nursing major at Indiana University Indianapolis, I am driven by a passionate pursuit of a career in nursing. My journey in this field has been marked by significant experiences and decisions that have led me to this path. I actively sought opportunities to explore various career paths through internships. These experiences provided me with valuable insights and helped me clarify my career goals. It was during this period that I discovered my strong affinity for nursing. Every moment I spent as an intern in the healthcare environment felt like I had found my place. To deepen my understanding and skills in nursing, I took on the role of a Student Nursing Assistant at my local hospital. This hands-on experience allowed me to work closely alongside Registered Nurses, gaining invaluable knowledge and insights into the profession. It reinforced my commitment to this career and my desire to make a positive impact on patients' lives.  I hold a CPR certification. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant, a qualification that further solidifies my commitment to this profession. My primary goal is to secure admission to the nursing program here at IUPUI for the upcoming fall semester. With the experience I've gained and the passion I have for nursing, I am eager to continue my educational journey and, ultimately, become a registered nurse.

My career goals are deeply rooted in my passion for nursing and my desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families. This goal is significant to me because it represents the culmination of years of preparation, hard work, and dedication. Nursing is about being there for people in their most vulnerable moments, providing comfort, care, and support when they need it the most.I don't know exactly what kind of nurse I want to be yet. I do know I like the fast-paced environment because it appeals to my determination and ability to stay composed under pressure. Beyond these immediate career goals, I have a long-term vision of furthering my education and pursuing advanced nursing specialties, such as becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I believe that as healthcare evolves, nurses need to adapt and expand their knowledge and skills to provide the best care possible. Ultimately, my career goals in nursing are meaningful because they are a reflection of my dedication to improving the well-being of individuals and communities. They align with my personal values of honesty, compassion, and organization. Nursing is not just a profession; it's a way to contribute positively to the world, and I'm excited to be on this journey.
