My First-Semester Experience

       My first semester at IUPUI has been full of different experiences, from applying to starting classes. I learned so much during orientation about my major and what to expect in the future. During bridge week I met many new friends and learned so much about what my semester would look like. I learned my way around campus and got comfortable being a college student along with everyone else around me. One big thing I have learned was during a group project. Even though it was tough working with different opinions, I learned how important teamwork and communication are. It taught me how to handle disagreements and work together toward a common goal. This experience helped me improve how to manage projects and collaborate with others, which will be extremely useful in the future with multiple opportunities. 
       I have learned a lot about myself when it comes to my strengths and weaknesses. My strength lies in my determination to efficiently complete tasks. For example, I consistently managed to finish assignments promptly ensuring quality, while meeting deadlines in all my classes. Honesty is another strength that plays a pivotal role when handling situations involving academic honesty and dishonesty among peers. Inside and outside of class I make sure to use integrity leading to honest endings. Test-taking remains a challenge for me, especially in high-pressure school settings. This struggle reflects my lack of confidence during exams, an area where I'm actively striving to boost my assurance and improve my performance.
       I've learned that having a positive attitude can make a big difference in how things turn out. For example, telling someone you like their shirt out in public can make their day. You never know what someone else is going through and it makes you feel better knowing you were kind. I want to use this positive mindset and everything I do because it can turn tough situations and opportunities and make relationships stronger. One piece of advice: When things get tough, try to stay positive. It can change how things work out and how you feel about them. :)
